In the autumn the Cherrees recorded their second ep for Conflict's newly formed Mortarhate label. The ep was recorded at John Hiseman's studio, the drummer from Collosseum, and was titled A MAN'S DUTY, A WOMAN'S PLACE. The ep entered the independent charts at No.4 and held a top twenty position for two months. 1984 saw the Cherrees gig with bands such as Flux of Pink Indians, Omega Tribe, Rudimentary Peni, Rubella Ballet, Dirt, Chumbawamba, Icons of Filth, Subhumans, New Model Army among many others including Conflict. The Cherrees continued to tour the country including major gigs at The Brixton Ace (which went on to become The Fridge) and Camden's Electric Ballroom. An album was recorded at The Mad Professor's Ariwa Studios in Brixton, London. It was a sixteen track LP on Conflict's Fight Back (offshoot of Mortarhate) label called ALL PART OF GROWING UP. A number of tracks were recorded for compilation albums around this time as well. In 1985 the Lost Cherrees released a 12" ep on Motarhate records called UNWANTED CHILDREN. The four track single was recorded at Alaska studios, London. By now the band were headlining gigs up and down the UK and working hard to promote various causes. The band played at dozens of benefit shows for the families of striking miners, Rape Crisis Centres, Animal Liberation Front and many others. The Cherrees had played over 350 gigs in three years when it was decided that it was time to call it a day. In the January of 2003 Steve decided to contact the other band members to see if they thought there was more to do, more to say. Andy, Bev, Nuts and Steve are currently rehearsing for planned gigs throughtout the year, starting in April/May hopefully with Conflict, Riot Clone among others. New songs, louder and angrier sounding are being put together and the plan is to release a single and possibly an LP before the end of the year.
