| 'PUNK ARCHIVES' includes many of today's favourite memories of the punk past. Culled from JUNGLE RECORDS back-catalogue from the past 16 years, plus earlier recordings and other labels (Fall Out, Fresh, etc) acquired along the way, the album presents an excellent cross-section of hard but melodic punk over a non-stop twenty-five tracks.
'PUNK ARCHIVES' avoids the dodgy Oi bands that mar many punk compilations and uncover a few forgotten gems. Famous early punk names such as Heartbreakers, Only Ones, Slits, Chelsea, and Jayne (Wayne) County, together with successful second wave bands such as UK Subs, Broken Bones, Peter & The Test-Tube Babies, Adicts, Newtown Neurotics and Action Pact, are mixed with collector nuggets from Art Attacks, The Wall, Urban Dogs, Raped, Menace, Fallen Angels, The Dark, Enemy, Rabid, Manufactured Romance and Rubella Ballet to complete the punk picture. Packaged with an 8-page booklet with sleeve-notes and biographies by Mick Mercer (of 1976 'Panache' punk fanzine) plus photos of many of the bands, 'PUNK ARCHIVES' is a must for any self-respecting punk's collection, and a quality, comprehensive cross-section of the genre for the casual investigator. | |
