Key members of legendary dark-wave band FIELDS OF THE NEPHILIM have teamed up behind a new singer/guitarist/songwriter, formed NFD and recorded a ‘fuck-off, we didn’t expect airplay anyway’ brilliant nine minute lead track for their debut ‘Break The Silence EP’, set for release on Jungle Records on September 15th. Peter Yates, the Nephilim’s original guitarist, guests on the lead track and contributes a blistering five minute guitar solo which will have you punching the air in rocktastic joy. (Believe me, it will.) Tony Pettitt, the Nephilim’s founder-bassist and half the team behind the recent ‘Fallen’ album, and Simon Rippin, drummer ex of Sensorium, The Nefilim and the Fields Of The Nephilim 2000 touring band, have joined up with Peter ‘Bob’ White, who previously fronted London band Sensorium, and formed NFD. When playing live, two other guitarists augment the trio: Chris Milden and Stephen Carey, giving Bob unfettered freedom to move around the stage. NFD’s very special debut live performance / launch party, takes place on August 1st, at Minglings, Stables Market, Camden Lock, opposite The Black Rose. Then NFD’s debut German gig is to headline the courtyard stage at the Herbstnachte Festival on September 27th, near Berlin. Tony’s contribution was at first on a part-time basis, but after his recent marathon Nephilim album sessions ended in 2002, he decided to join NFD full time, adding his own distinctive mark to the music. NFD soon attracted the attention of many notable studio producers such as Greg Brimson (Bush, Metallica, Eminem), Cubanate’s Marc Heal and others, before cementing a working relationship with Neil Brockbank (Roxy Music, Nick Lowe, Killing Joke etc) and recording the ‘Break The Silence EP’. The ‘Break The Silence EP’ will be issued on both 3 track CD and 12” vinyl, featuring the nine minute title track, plus ‘No Love Lost’ and ‘Unleashed’.
