The Southend R&B stalwarts, captured live in a pre-punk frenzy in 1976, when they shook up the UK scene and laid the foundations for punk. Includes all their early live favourites of Rods originals and stalwart covers. CD includes 8-page booklet reproducing an ecstatic live Rods review from that year. Eddie & the Hot Rods formed in the mid 70’s as a high-energy R&B band, building on their natural residencies in their home town of Southend. They shook up the laid-back establishment of the time, and became forerunners of the UK punk scene. During the punk explosion, they got signed up and hit the Top 10 with ‘Do Anything You Wanna Do’. This album highlights the band in their early, exciting, raw days, playing originals and blues covers to their very passionate followers. |
