Dean Wareham 'Anesthesia'

Dean Wareham was the singer/guitarist and a songwriter with the now defunct Boston-based band, GALAXIE 500. Dean left Galaxie 500 after three critically acclaimed records in three years "Today" (‘88), "On Fire" (‘89) & "This Is Our Music" (‘90).

Dean lives in New York City, and, since his departure from Galaxie 500 in April, has been busy writing a new album's worth of material, and recording the demos from which this new single "Anesthesia" is taken.

"Anesthesia" and "I Can't Wait" were recorded on a July 4th weekend at Fun City! studios with Warton Tiers producing. Dean played everything but the drums, which are handled on "Anesthesia" by Mercury Rev's Jimy Chambers, and on "I Can't Wait" by Hamish Kilgour of the Clean.

An additional U.K. only track, "Tomato Poodle" is an instrumental recorded by Dean at home on his Portastudio (hence the hiss).

Dean has now signed a multi-record deal with Elektra Records, and Beggars Banquet in the UK, and has put together a new band LUNA, with ex-Chills bassist Justin Harwood. The current lineup conists of Dean on vocals and guitar, Justin on bass, and Byron Guthrie (ex of Ultra Vivid Scene) on drums. The band is playing shows around New York with various guest guitarists, and will be recording a new LP early in the New Year.
